January 2009 Meeting Announcement

DATE: Wednesday, 14 January 2009
1:15 - 4:30 p.m.

LOCATION: New England Federal Credit Union (NEFCU)
141 Harvest Lane
Williston, VT

AGENDA:

1:15-1:30 — Welcome and miscellaneous business

  • InfraGard application status

  • National Chapter update

1:30-2:30 — CIMIT: RIPS (Alison Seffels, Champlain College)

CIMIT: RIPS is a disaster simulation training tool that utilizes Google Maps, Google Earth, and the National Incident Management System (NIMS). First responders are encouraged to draw on their situational awareness and local knowledge of their own cities and towns. The Disaster Moderator (DM) role allows the incident to be pre-crafted. The DM can then edit the scenario on-the-fly during actual game play. Incidents that have been crafted can be shared with others in the first responder community and then edited as needed to fit the new location. These incidents can also draw on actual weather, population, and other statistics to add another level of realism.

2:30-2:45 — Break

2:45-3:45 — RISS ATIX Network (Kevin Anderson & Stephen Poirot, Vermont Homeland Security)

The Regional Information Sharing System (RISS) Automated Trusted Information Exchange (RISS ATIX) is a secure information sharing network intended to provide a means of communication for executives and officials from governmental and nongovernmental agencies and organizations that have public safety responsibilities. This presentation will describe RISS ATIX, how it works, and how InfraGard might fit in to the plans in Vermont.

3:45-4:15 — Chapter items

  • Election for two open board member positions.

  • New business items: e.g., next meeting, possible topics/speakers, etc.
