CIMIT: RIPS is a disaster simulation training tool that utilizes Google Maps, Google Earth, and the National Incident Management System (NIMS). First responders are encouraged to draw on their situational awareness and local knowledge of their own cities and towns. The Disaster Moderator (DM) role allows the incident to be pre-crafted. The DM can then edit the scenario on-the-fly during actual game play. Incidents that have been crafted can be shared with others in the first responder community and then edited as needed to fit the new location. These incidents can also draw on actual weather, population, and other statistics to add another level of realism.
