VT INFOSAFE
"Information Security Awareness for Everyone"

The Vermont chapter of InfraGard has organized a series of FREE training sessions to bring critical security information to communities around the state. These sessions will target the majority of home computer users — non-technical individuals who are unsure of the steps to take to secure their own systems. It will cover the importance of computer security, and provide concrete steps that can be taken by anyone to have a safe networking experience while on the Internet.

About VT INFOSAFE

Recognizing the particular vulnerability of residential Internet users to cybercrime, identity theft, and other security vulnerabilities, the mission of the VT INFOSAFE project is to raise public awareness of the importance of information/computer security and to give the public the resources they require to proactively secure their computers.

Security professionals in the United States are concerned about the vulnerability of our country to electronic attack. While there is some awareness of this threat among the general public, most citizens do not realize that their home computers can be used to attack this nation's critical infrastructure. Within the last year, there has been a large increase in the use of personal computers to launch devastating distributed attacks upon U.S businesses.

VT INFOSAFE is a community project organized by the volunteer members of the Vermont InfraGard chapter. Other funding and support has come from Champlain College, FBI, Norwich University, Vermont Army National Guard, and Vermont Information Technology Center.
